7- Simple Dress!

It's been more then a month that I don't write or sew much things... Well I was on vacations with my family and now that the girls are in vacations from school I don't have a lot of time to sew! or actually time for nothing! LOL!
But before I went vacations I did this very simple dress that anyone can make.
Materials needed: 1 meter of fabric, or 2 if you want to make it maxi dress!, 1 inch (2.5cm) of elastic that measures above your chest. and an thin elastic for your waist, thread, and a sewing machine of course!

I got this idea from a web site called Sharon Sews here's the link to it :

She has a very detailed explanation, on how to do it! I did mine above the knee and I loved it how it turned out!

Of course I am not the best model to the dress, but I am trying to go on a diet! kkkk very hard!!!

6 - ID TAGS AND A CLEAR MULTIPURPOSE BAG

These two projects are great for anyone, the Id tag, is perfect for travelers and of course for the children's school bag!

As you may notice I am addicted to the things she makes! Ashley from make it and love it...

http://www.makeit-loveit.com/2009/06/idtags.html

Of course hers are perfect, and made with nicer fabrics, but I think I did a pretty good job, with the little things (fabrics) I have on hand!
I still did not had the time to go look for nice fabrics, I think I will end up buying them online but I am not sure yet, if I really like this idea!

And the CLEAR MULTIPURPOSE BAG, is the best idea to store many things! Shoes, toys, little buttons, candy's, I even did some for my store and I putted souvenirs inside them (of course not with this fabric). I forgot to take a picture of that, but I will, and post here later!
In the beginning was hard to sew on vinyl, but later I putted on the smallest tension of the machine and did it.

The tutorial is from Whitney Sews, she makes sewing videos on You Tube, and this one Was very nice explained!

Hope you enjoyed!

5- The basic skirt!

Of course from the beginning my girls wanted dresses, and skirts, and anything I could do for them so I tried as my first clothing project this basic skirt.

This tutorial is everywhere, and you don't need a pattern, only your hip measurements, and your waist, and the length  you want the skirt to be.
I followed the tutorial from this web site Ruffles and stuff, as always these web sites are teaching me so many things! And it is very exciting!

 http://www.rufflesandstuff.com/2010/06/ladylike-skirt-tutorial.html#more

Here are the pictures of my happy girls with they're skirt:

For the oldest she wanted  a bow in the bottom of the skirt, so that's what I did. And the hemming of her's I did a little twist, I folded and hemmed three times, because I had done to long for her at first, and it was actually a nice touch to the skirt! Sometimes the wrong thing happen for the best results!

And the little one wanted a bow for her hair, so I just sewed one and attached to an alligator clip. Her's was right on her size, so I just hemmed normally!

Tha'ts it for the basic skirt, and you can do so many variations colors, and different fabric o those, and they are very easy to make!

4- The basic Bag!

For my first sewed project with my sewing machine I did this basic bag, with an cheap fabric, cause I was really afraid of not doing it right, but actually it turned out very nice, and I use it everyday to go to work, cause is light in weight and comfy!

The tutorial I got from this very cool website! THE DIY DISH. COM

And here how's mine turned out:

Hope you like it, and try it!
It's even good as a beach bag!

3 - Flower Pin Cushion!

Well before I even buy my sewing machine I wanted to make myself a cute pin cushion!
So I found this tutorial on you tube, but I can't really remember the source! Sorry!

But it's very easy:

First you cut two circles out of the fabric of your choice, and with right sides together sew around it, leaving a gap so you can turn around and fill it with cushion fillings, or even cotton if you don't have the nice stuff.
After you fill it all, close the gap with a blind stitch.
Then you choose any color of embroidery floss to make the flower petals, just hand sew in and out of the cushion making first a cross and then 2 diagonals from that. So in the end you have 8 petals. In the middle you sew a button so you cover all the stitching, secure it nice with double knots in the back.

Here is the picture of mine:

It is very cute and useful!

2 - WALL HANGER FOR DRAWINGS!

My girls want all the time to hang they're drawings, and my fridge couldn't handle it anymore...
So I saw this tutorial on make it and love it.
She calls it : The Project Display Board.
And you only need a piece of wood board, some fabric, big clothes pin, and glue. Optional some ribbon and buttons.
Ps>: In the tutorial she uses Mod Podge Glue... I used hot glue and it worked just fine! And I couldn't find the giant clothes pin, so I just made it with the biggest I could find.

The link to her tutorial :

And this is a photo of mine!
I liked it, and the girls much more, they love changing the drawings from now and then so they can have them displayed!

Hope you like it too!

The beginning of all!

My life is really crazy right now, as everyone else's I could guess.
How is it so hard to make something you like, when you have so many things to do! I feel like I need a day with 48 hours instead of 24hrs... And first of all I need some sleep.. I have only about 5 hours per day, and some people think 'Oh how you can handle that?? Well the answer is I actually don't, but I guess I am used to it!

As I mentioned I don't have a lot of time, to do all the things I want to with my new hobby (sewing), and less yet with my older (cooking), or just inventing new things and plays with the girls.
I am going to be posting what I can, so that way I can have a organized path of what I am doing!

1 - HAIR CLIPS

Before I even get my sewing machine, I had tried other kinds of crafts, but I still was in search of something That would make me want more!!!

The picture bellow is from some hair bows I did, the idea was from the site :
http://www.makeit-loveit.com
Her ideas are the best and I am learning a lot from her!
The tutorial is here:

And you only need some alligator clips, ribbon, and hot glue!
